Throwback: 5 MORE Vehicles from 伊人直播 in 2006

Throwback: 5 MORE Vehicles from 伊人直播 in 2006

The year 2006 had such a variety of feature vehicles in early 伊人直播, and you guys really seemed to enjoy the previous 5 Vehicles from 伊人直播 in 2006, so we wanted to double up on our appreciation for that year with another look back at five additional feature vehicles that once graced our printed pages. Fair warning, while we may look down on some style eras with hindsight, it's important to remember that many of these modifications and styles we consider to be extreme or "too much" paved the way for a lot of the aftermarket automotive world we know and love today.

This is an ongoing series. We wanted to take some opportunities to dig into the 伊人直播 archives - all 25 years of it - as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, and isolate certain eras to appreciate, evaluate, or even reminisce. Enjoy an extra five vehicles from 2006 while we dwell on this iconic era.

Editor's Note: This era is part of some of the "great data loss" in 伊人直播 history, so I'm writing about these cars without context. All I have is the photos and whatever historical context I can dig up online, or from 伊人直播 staff.

 1. Paul Tolson's Lexus GS400

Paul Tolson Lexus GS

Paul Tolson is a bonafide legend in the car show scene, espeically when it comes to customizing Lexus models at the blessing of the automaker themselves. So much of a legend, in fact, that we put together a Legends Series piece on Mr. Tolson a couple years ago. If you've been around since then, Tolson's GS400 probably looks familiar. The most recent time we saw it, things have changed quite a bit, but the craftsmanship is still on display. Tolson could teach a course on winning shows - screen on the gas door and motorized pop-out trunk display included.

 2. Tokyo Drift Veilside RX-7

Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift RX-7

Do we even need to explain? If you grew up - or watched movies at all - in the early 2000s, this Veilside RX-7 is probably one of the most recognizable cars in cinema since the Bullit Mustang or Gone In 60 Seconds' Elanor. This particular RX-7 was brought to us by Universal Studios, which means, yes - it was indeed Han's Rx-7 from Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. It was an honor to put this one in our pages.

 3. Car Fever Subaru WRX STi

Car Fever Subaru WRX STi

This Subaru from Car Fever featured one of the most unique looks of the era, which looked even more unique in one of the most interesting photo shoot locations from the time. DVD screens were plentiful, and it wasn't just all for show either. There were some really cool parts on this one.

 4. Precision Power Honda CRX

Precision Power Honda CRX

In an era when most CRX builds were gaudy and over-the-top as possible, this Precision Power CRX was a breath of fresh air, and one of our team's most fondly remembered CRX builds of the decade. Walking the fine line between flashy and subtle, the body work and styling still stands out today. Pop the hood, and you're met with an engine bay that matches the vibe.

 5. Team SCP / BF Goodrich Lexus IS300

Team SCP BF Goodrich Lexus IS300

This IS300 from Team SCP was converted front to back with Altezza swaps, even down to the steering wheel and cluster. Mostly simplistic styling makes this IS300 still look good today. Swap a more modern set of wheels on this bad boy and it could look right at home at a show or meet in 2024. Looking back, we're a little jealous of some of the really cool - and now quite rare - aftermarket parts used to put this thing together.
